Villanova Offers Trio of 2028 Wing Prospects
Villanova Men’s Basketball continues to blitz the 2028 recruiting class, issuing a trio of new offers to current high school juniors during the month of October. Each one of them likely fits best on the wing: Mikey Matthews is a 6-foot-6 lefty who plays for Maryland’s Mt. Zion Prep, a program that Wildcats head coach Kevin Willard and his staff are already familiar with after recruiting Chris Jeffrey, who later transferred to Loyola Chicago, during the 2025 cycle.
Matthews has offers from Seton Hall, Georgetown, Pitt and a handful of other Division I schools and currently ranks as a three-star. The other two wings are also 6-foot-6, Xavier Skipworth and Trey Edwards. Skipworth attends Montverde Academy in Florida, a national recruiting powerhouse, and is listed as a composite five-star at 247Sports. Born in York, Pa., regional ties could help bring him to the Main Line and averaged up to 22 points per game during EYBL play during the spring.
Edwards, another four-star, ranks on the edge of the top 100 for his class. He averaged 24.6 points and six rebounds per game during EYBL play, making 41.5 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. All three of the recruits are sure to see heavy interest from high-major programs around the country, but Villanova is similarly sending out a flurry of offers to the 2028 class.
