Villanova running back David Avit has entered the transfer portal, per a report from Pete Nakos of On3. Avit briefly entered the portal last offseason before withdrawing and deciding to return to the Main Line.

A rising junior who stands six feet tall and weighs 225 pounds, Avit played in eight and a quarter games this season before going down with a knee injury on Nov. 8, one that kept him out for more than a month. He returned for the Wildcats’ season-ending loss to Illinois State but had just two carries.

On the season, Avit racked up 687 yards and eight touchdowns on 125 carries and added nine catches for 84 yards.

Villanova also enjoyed excellent seasons from No. 2 and No. 3 backs Isaiah Ragland and Ja’briel Mace, so they’re well equipped to continue without Avit, but the loss of an All-American candidate stings nonetheless.

Avit is the third starting member of the Wildcats to enter the transport portal since their season ended on Dec. 20.
