Villanova Football Recruiting
Villanova Football Adds 2027 Defensive Back, FBS Target
Villanova Football fortified their secondary of the future on Monday, June 29 with the commitment of 2027 defensive back Damari Moore.
The Wildcats offered Moore in May. He stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 175 pounds, possessing a lengthy frame that will help him stick with receivers and disrupt passing lanes. Body type matters in the secondary: smaller athletes often fit best at cornerback, where speed and agility take precedence.
If Moore can marry his height with speed, he could give Villanova a valuable boost at cornerback — his preferred position in high school — possessing the ability to match up with taller deep threats on the boundary. He intercepted nine passes as a junior, returning three for touchdowns, and added another nine pass breakups. Equally important, Moore allowed just two catches in coverage.
Moore’s production caught the attention of FBS coaches: he also earned an offer from James Madison and made visits to Syracuse and Virginia. With the Wildcats trying to build on a run to the FCS Semifinals last season, their ability to bring in recruits with Power Four potential puts them in good hands moving forward.
