Villanova Men’s Basketball held firm as a No. 6 seed in ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi’s latest rankings, published on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

The Wildcats (14-4, 5-2 Big East) lost their last game 86-79, a matchup against St. John’smatchup against St. John’s that put their defense and size under the microscope once again. While this Villanova team might have a ceiling, they’re hanging firm in the standings — at least as Lunardi sees it. They currently hold the No. 32 spot in the NET rankings and the No. 27 rank according to KenPom.

Villanova Women’s Basketball, meanwhile, checks in as a No. 11 seed according to Charlie Creme’s bracket assessment. That would put them in line for the First Four, which feels like they’re getting undervalued, but the Wildcats, currently the second-best team in the Big East, have struggled to gain recognition all season. Even with a statement win like their domination of ranked West Virginia on the road, Villanova has yet to pick up a single vote in the AP Poll; they’re currently No. 37 in the NET rankings.

The men’s team will next take the court at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at home against Georgetown. The women’s team will travel to St. John’s at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24.
