Villanova Football Hosts Special Guest During Bye Week Practices
Villanova Football had their bye week while most of the rest of their conference played during the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 10, and with the Wildcats facing an uphill climb to the postseason at 2-4 (1-2 Patriot League), the week off gave them a chance to right the ship.
In a bid to generate positive momentum after back-to-back losses, Villanova Football hosted legendary men’s basketball head coach and current Special Assistant to the President Jay Wright at one of their practices last week, per a tweet from football head coach Mark Ferrante.
“Always appreciate when @CoachJayWright stops by a @NovaFootball practice to talk to our team!” Ferrante said. “We all thank you for your time and your message Coach! #Attitude #Effort”
Wright won a pair of national championships while driving home the importance of attitude to his players, teaching them to focus on controlling the things they could control like the way they carried themselves and viewed the world. Ferrante isn’t a stranger to national titles either, serving as the Wildcats’ associate head coach and offensive line coach during their 2009 title run… but a visit from Wright certainly won’t hurt as Villanova tries to go on a run.
