WATCH: Boban on the Main Line With Jay Wright, Nova Nation

Boban Marjanović, a nine-year NBA veteran and former Dallas Mavericks teammate of Villanova legend Jalen Brunson, made a trip to the Main Line on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for the Wildcats’ 77-74 win over Marquette.

The 7-foot-4 center and former Philadelphia 76ers star spent time in Villanova’s student section, went shopping at the campus bookstore with Jay Wright and even attempted a half court shot with a lifetime pass to Villanova games on the line. Bleacher Report posted a YouTube video of Marjanović’s visit on March 6, revealing the reason for his serendipitous trip to the Finneran Pavilion.

A Serbian native, Marjanović went straight to the NBA after playing in the pros in Europe. He never played in college, and the whimsical video follows Marjanović around campus as he attempts to rectify that fact.

Full of charm, the eponymous Boban tells Wright he looks like George Clooney upon meeting up with him on campus. “Now you see me in person, you know it’s not true,” Wright quipped. In order to sneak into the Wildcats’ student section, Boban needs to look the part, so Wright takes him to the campus bookstore for some Villanova merchandise and recommends a Brunson jersey.

Famed for his small-ball teams, Wright says he wishes he’d had a big man like Boban during his time as a head coach; Boban, trying on a too-small baseball cap, retorts that he would’ve gotten yelled at for his lack of hustle. He then explores campus, cracking “6-7” jokes, interacting with — and towering over — the student section, and eventually gets selected for the promotional half-court shot during a TV timeout. Three of his attempts clang off the rim, but he ends up unsuccessful in his pursuit of a college basket.
