Villanova Men’s Basketball looked in grave danger of suffering an upset on the road against Georgetown on Saturday, Feb. 7. Instead, true freshman guard Acaden Lewis took over down the stretch, scoring 17 points in the final 10:21 and putting up a career performance in his hometown. Lewis finished with 26 points, six assists and three steals, helping the Wildcats (18-5, 9-3 Big East) to an 80-73 win.

That marks Villanova’s third win in a row and completes a season sweep of the Hoyas. It also came at the expense of a group of Maryland Terrapins fans, who made the trip to the nations capital to root against their former head coach, Kevin Willard, who spurned them for the Wildcats last offseason. There’s no love lost between Willard and his old campus, as he put the Terrapins fans on blast after the game.

“They wasted a Saturday,” Willard said. “I don’t know what the f*** they were doing. They got nothing better to do on a Saturday than come look at my bald ass, I don’t know what they’re doing.”

Villanova youngsters like Braden Pierce and Chris Jeffrey continued to find their footing, and the Wildcats further solidified themselves as the No. 3 team in the Big East. Here’s the reaction from fans and media after a Villanova road win.
