Villanova Men’s Basketball made just one shot in the first 6:49 of their road game against the DePaul Blue Demons on Wednesday, March 4, the type of slow start that could doom them as tournament season approaches.

The Wildcats (23-7, 14-5 Big East) left no doubt to the outcome with their start to the second half, however, pouring on 50 points in the second half to lock up a 76-57 win. Redshirt freshman starter Matt Hodge going down for the season with an ACL tear left a major question mark about how Villanova would match up against teams with a size advantage, but they passed their first test with flying colors — albeit against an up-and-down Blue Demons’ squad with an 8-11 record in conference play.

Making the first start of his NCAA career in his 52nd game played, sophomore Malachi Palmer got over early jitters to score ten second half points, while Tyler Perkins and Duke Brennan helped Villanova win on the glass despite their smaller stature.

Here’s the reaction from fans and media after the Wildcats’ penultimate regular season game.
