Villanova Men’s Basketball product Mark Armstrong will take part in the NBA G-League dunk contest, per a league release.

The contest will take place following the G-League 3-Point Contest (set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 in Los Angeles) as part of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities. The NBA Channel will broadcast the event, which will pit Armstrong against Gabe McGlothan, RJ Meléndez and John Ukomadu.

Each contestant will have 60 seconds to complete a dunk and receive grades from a panel of five judges: the two players with the highest scores in the opening round will face off once again in the final.

Armstrong played for Villanova from 2022 to 2024, averaging 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as a sophomore, his first and only season as an everyday starter. He stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 180 pounds, posting a 40-inch vertical at the NBA Combine; each of his competitors stands 6-foot-6 or higher.

Although he went undrafted, Armstrong signed with the Long Island Nets; they traded him to the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks’ G-League affiliate, in September. He’s averaging 12.6 points and 2.3 assists across 21.2 minutes per night this season (18 games played).

Here’s an example of his athleticism in the Wildcats’ 2024 NIT matchup with VCU. Click here for more news about Villanova in the Pros.
