Villanova remained at No. 29 in the NET rankings after their road win at Marquette, a 76-73 nail-biter that didn’t inspire much confidence against one of the worst teams in the Big East. Even so, the Wildcats (13-3, 4-1 Big East) displayed the resolve they needed to eke out a win.

Villanova also got a boost from one of their opponents as Wisconsin, who the Wildcats toppled back in December, knocked off previously-undefeated No. 2 Michigan in Ann Arbor. That promoted the Badgers to No. 40 in the NET rankings and gave Villanova a 3-2 record Quadrant 1 games as a result.

The KenPom ratings hold the Wildcats in higher esteem, ranking them at No. 25… but that’s a one spot drop from where they were ahead of the Marquette game.

After landing as the first team out of the AP Poll last week, Villanova’s loss to Creighton damaged their chances of making it on the next Top 25 list published on Monday, Jan. 12… but as they’ve only just reached the halfway point of the 2025-26 regular season, they have plenty of time to build their résumé.
