Villanova Football issued an offer to 2026 recruit Thomas Coates, an offensive and defensive line prospect out of Maryland’s Urbana High School, per an announcement from his Twitter account.

Coates, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 300 pounds, also holds a Division I offer from Morgan State. After attending one of the Wildcats’ spring practices, Coates participated in a football camp at Villanova on June 19 and earned his offer a little over two weeks later.

Right now, Coates has his options open as colleges weigh his potential on both sides of the ball: Villanova offensive line coach Sean Devine and defensive line coach/defensive coordinator Ross Pennypacker both played a role in his recruiting.

His senior season could go a long way toward deciding what position he ends up at in Division I.

At 6-foot-2, Coates might project best as an interior lineman, although he has time to grow; depending on his wingspan, he could have the length to line up on the outside as well.
