Jalen Brunson is no stranger to big performances at Madison Square Garden, winning two Big East championships there with Villanova even before he joined the NBA’s New York Knicks.

The All-Star point guard and NBA Cup Championship MVP put up a career best at the Garden on Sunday, Dec. 21, going off for 47 points in the Knicks’ 132-125 win over the Miami Heat. Brunson made 15 of 26 shots (six of 13 from three) and sank all 11 of his free throw attempts, adding eight assists without a single turnover.

Well on his way to a third straight All-Star nod, Brunson ranks eighth in the NBA in scoring (28.4 PPG) and 14th in passing (6.5 assists per game).

His Villanova teammates Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart also proved instrumental in the win: Bridges accounted for 24 points and Hart added 13 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and no turnovers.

Now 20-8, the Knicks hold the second best record in the Eastern Conference this season.
