Villanova Football climbed into the top ten of both major FCS rankings after losses from North Dakota, South Dakota State, Tarleton State and UC Davis helped propel them up the rankings during their week off. The Wildcats (6-2, 5-1 CAA) check in at No. 10 in the Stats Perform Poll and No. 8 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, their first time in the top ten for either poll since last season.

Unfortunately for Villanova, the Monmouth Hawks managed to win over the weekend, diminishing the Wildcats’ chances of winning a CAA title and picking up an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. The Wildcats remain well within range of an at-large bid, but will need at least one loss from Rhode Island and two from Monmouth in order to have a chance at a league championship.

Their late bye week gives them an advantage heading into the postseason, allowing them to rest up heading into the stretch run. Riding a five game conference winning streak, Villanova returns to action at Towson at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 in their penultimate CAA matchup.
