Saint Joseph’s AD Bodensteiner Departs for Horizon League

Saint Joseph’s University Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner will step down from her role on April 15, 2026 per a university release.

Bodensteiner will become the commissioner of the Horizon League, headquartered in Indianapolis. Before joining the Hawks in her current role in June 2018, Bodensteiner spent two decades in the Hoosier State with Notre Dame. She’ll leave a mixed legacy on Hawk Hill, where she oversaw a rise to prominence for field hockey and men’s and women’s lacrosse… but also ousted longtime men’s basketball head coach Phil Martelli Sr., the move that will sum up her legacy among most Saint Joseph’s fans and alumni as the Hawks continued to stagnate without him.

Per the university release, the Hawks will begin a nationwide search for Bodensteiner’s successor in the coming weeks.
