Phillies Prospect Watch: Gabe Craig Finding His Footing?

Phillies affiliates went 3-1 on Sunday, April 19, with 2025 fifth round pick Gabe Craig rebounding for a scoreless inning in relief after a shaky start to the season. Craig, Tyler Bowen and closer Keegan Batka each struck out the side and contributed one scoreless inning in relief apiece, helping Single-A Clearwater preserve a 3-2 win.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost a 12-8 track meet, scoring eight runs to tie the game in the top of the eighth before allowing four more runs in the bottom of the frame. Center fielder Steward Berroa hit two doubles and Christian Cairo went 4-for-5 at the plate; third baseman Robert Moore added a two-run home run.

The Reading Fightin Phils won 7-6, 2021 11th round pick Andrew Baker securing the save. Zack Wheeler got knocked around for six hits, four runs and two homers in four innings of work as he continues to rehab. Aroon Escobar went 3-for-5 with a double and a steal and outfielder Raylin Herredia hit three more two-baggers. Dante Nori added a single and a steal.

High-A Jersey Shore rolled to a 7-2 win, a grand slam from Luis Caicuto doing most of the damage. The BlueClaws drew 13 walks, six different batters picking up at least two free passes. First baseman Kodey Shojinaga doubled and walked, while starting pitcher Reese Dutton went four scoreless innings on 53 pitches.

Center fielder Nathan Humphreys picked up an extra base hit for the sixth game in a row for the Threshers, going 1-for-2 with a homer, two walks and a caught stealing. Left fielder Nolan Beltran (three walks) and third baseman Robert Phelps (2-for-4 with a double and a walk) also reached base three times.
