Phillies Prospect Watch: Double-A Reading’s Dominant Playoff Win

Phillies affiliates went 1-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 15, with Double-W Reading opening their playoff run with a 21-4 blowout win, giving them a major advantage in the best-of-three series. The Fightin Phils put up 12 runs in the second inning and logged a total of 16 hits and 12 walks, each spot in the lineup reaching base at least twice. Here are the batting lines from the onslaught:

• Shortstop Bryan Rincon: 2-for-5 with a double and a walk
• Center fielder Dante Nori: 1-for-4 with two walks
• Third baseman Aidan Miller: 1-for-5 with a walk
• Right fielder Raylin Heredia: 3-for-6
• Designated hitter Carson DeMartini: 1-for-3 with three walks
• Second baseman Aroon Escobar: 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk
• Catcher Caleb Ricketts: 1-for-5 with a double and a walk
• Right fielder Pedro León: 3-for-5 with a double and a walk
• First baseman Austin Murr: 2-for-4 with a triple and two walks

Gage Wood allowed three runs in four innings, striking out four batters and landing 43 of 78 pitches for strikes. Triple-A Lehigh Valley lost 9-1, the lone run coming on a home run from Otto Kemp.

The Phillies will send a total of nine players to the Arizona Fall League: right-handers Keegan Batka, Ryan Dromboski, Estibenzon Jimenez and Jose Pena Jr., lefty Kevin Warunek, catcher Kedhen Hettiger, infielder Aroon Escobar and outfielder Dante Nori will all suit up for the Surprise Saguaros. Hitting coach Jeff Livesey and trainer Marissa Vanhassel will also join the Saguaros, while catcher Luke Davis will play for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
