Big 5 Announces Women’s Basketball Schedule
The Philadelphia Big 5 announced their schedule pods for the 2025-26 season on Thursday, July 17, with Villanova set to face Temple and La Salle to determine their matchup in the Big 5 Classic.
The Wildcats will host Temple on Saturday, Nov. 22 and play at La Salle on Tuesday, Nov. 25. They’ll also host the Big 5 Classic, set to take place on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Finneran Pavilion for the second consecutive year. The Men’s Big 5 Classic, meanwhile, will take place at the Wells Fargo Center the previous day.
Temple will host La Salle for the other matchup in the Wildcats’ pod, with that game scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14.
The other pod consists of St. Joseph’s, Penn and Drexel. The Hawks will host Drexel on Saturday, Nov. 29 and travel to face the Quakers at the Palestra on Monday, Nov. 24. Drexel will host Penn in an all-West Philly matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Each team’s record in pod play will help determine their matchup for the Classic, with the winners of each pod playing in the championship game, the runners-up playing in the third place game, and the last place teams fighting to stay out of the basement. Temple won the inaugural Big 5 Classic 76-62 over Villanova last season. St. Joseph’s won the year prior, ending a Wildcats’ three-peat.
